Mock Disaster Exercise

2002 marked the first year for the Mock Disaster at the NCLETTC in Moundsville, West Virginia. This training event was developed to give first responders the opportunity to use and test their disaster relief techniques and technologies. It was also intended to allow all agencies to work together as one "team" united for one purpose...to save lives and to "Answer the Call"

The primary objective of the Mock Disaster training exercise is to provide comprehensive operational training for emergency service providers in planning for, evaluating, responding to and mitigating large-scale disasters with emphasis on pre-planning, preparation, integrated incident command and evaluation. The development of a realistically believable mock disaster environment is what makes this such a unique event. Each situation is handled by the participating departments and agencies with the intensity of a real-life incident.

The primary audience of the training event includes all first responding agencies and public safety agencies on the local, state and federal levels.

Mock Disaster 2002 achieved national recognition at the GOVSEC and US LAW Conference and Expo by receiving first place in the Disaster Preparedness/First Responders category. Mock Disaster 2003 was honored during the EPA Region III Emergency Preparedness Conference in December 2003 with the Partnership Award for Emergency Preparedness.
