Registration Procedures and Requirements
Enrollment into the following classes is restricted to certified police officers, chiefs of police, sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, correctional officers, investigative agents, and other criminal justice professionals as well as the First Responder Community. Certain computer classes are offered to the general public as a community development benefit. The Training Manager may grant exceptions to this rule on a case-by-case basis.
All courses are offered contingent upon sufficient enrollment, and are filled on a “first-come, first serve” basis.
Enrollees will be notified at least (7) days in advance of course cancellations.
*We encourage students to enroll online or via e-mail if possible. This will ensure a prompt reply/confirmation of receipt of your registration.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ENROLLEES It is required that registrants who cancel their registration for a course must do so by the time indicated on the faxed enrollment form or the on-line registration. Registrants who do not attend will be billed at one half of the total course fee if they do not cancel their registration within the stated time frame. Last minute emergencies will be exempted from this fee. The intent and purpose of this policy is to encourage enrollees to attend courses for which they have registered. Failure to give adequate notice of cancellation prevents others from attending the course and creates “standby” lists that that become longer that necessary. Your cooperation in reducing the number of “no-shows” is appreciated.
NOTE: ** Unless otherwise indicated, NCLETTC courses are certified for In –Service training through the West Virginia Division of Criminal Justice Services; Law Enforcement Training Subcommittee.
** Continuing Education Unit’s (CEU’s) through Wheeling Jesuit University are awarded to every class offered in the catalog. All training conducted at or by NCLETTC, including online training, is eligible to receive Continuing Education Units (CEU), at the rate of one (1) CEU per ten (10) hours of training. Please ensure all registration information is legible with correct spellings.
NOTICE TO ALL STUDENTS
The National Corrections & Law Enforcement Training & Technology Center appreciates your attendance to all training courses.
While we strive to make your training experience as practical and realistic as possible it is necessary that we all abide by certain guidelines while training on and around the grounds of the former West Virginia State Penitentiary.
On Tuesdays through Saturdays the Moundsville Economic Development Council conducts tours of this historic site. Coordination is made so the tours do not interfere with our training while at the same time we must ensure that when students are in proximity of the tours, the following is considered:
- Be courteous & professional
- Do not use profanity
- No smoking in the prison
- Do not leave trash in the prison or on the prison grounds. Use the trash containers provided
- Notify the Instructor immediately if there are any problems brought by any member of the tour group or the tour guide
Additionally there are times when NCLETTC shares its outdoor range facility. Again coordination is made well in advance of any training being conducted. However, there are times when not everyone has been made aware of the scheduled training.
If someone who is not a registered student is present during range time, it is up to the Instructor to allow the person(s) to observe the training or inform the individual they will not be allowed to stay. At no time will anyone not registered in the class participate in NCLETTC training.
As with the prison, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Be courteous & professional
- Use the trash container provided.
- Designate someone to transport the trash back to the training center upon completion of the days range training.
All target stands and equipment used during training are the property of NCLETTC. Please do not leave this equipment on the range.
If there are target stands other than those belonging to NCLETTC, ensure they are placed on the left side, under the pavilion regardless if they were down range upon arrival.
We appreciate your assistance in these matters.
