Description:
This 3-hour block of instruction is designed to enhance the safety and confidence as well as raise the awareness level of persons, agents or officials who are not law enforcement but who are likely to encounter hostile or otherwise belligerent clients or members of the public during the performance of their assigned duties. This block of instruction will enhance their effectiveness, professionalism, confidence and proficiency in regard to dealing with belligerent, combative and difficult personalities while at the same time reducing the risk of injury to both the staff and those whom they are likely to encounter who may possess ill intent.
Objectives:
Understand the importance of personal and situational awareness
Be able to avoid placing themselves in vulnerable situations
Have an understanding of survival stress and how it effects the mind and body
Understand the principles of control
Have a basic understanding of self defensive techniques and be able to effectively employ each
Be familiar with the “do’s and don’ts” of interpersonal communication and how best to de-escalate a potentially volatile situation
Understand basic hostage survival techniques if needed
Be able to avoid placing themselves in vulnerable situations
