Description:

The 10 hour plus program is intended to provide a variety of training on Construction Industry safety and health topics to entry level workers. This course is also designed to assist 1st Responders in basic hazard awareness. The classes are designed to be presented to workers and 1st Responders and therefore will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards. Course topics include Introduction to OSHA (The OSH Act; General Safety & Health Provisions; and Recordkeeping), Electrical, and Subpart K, Fall Protection, Subpart M., Excavations, Crane Safety, Materials Handling, Hand and Power Tools, Personal Protective Equipment, Scaffolds, and Stairway & Ladders.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this training the student will have a basic awareness and the knowledge to identify hazards in the following OSHA safety and health topics:

OSH Act/General Duty Clause 5(a)(1)

General Safety & Health Provisions

Fall Protections, Subpart M

Materials Handling, Storage, Use & Disposal

Scaffolds, Subpart L

Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Elevators & Conveyors, Subpart N

Recordkeeping (CFR Part 1904)

Electrical, Subpart K

Personal Protective Equipment

Tools – Hand and Power

Excavations, Subpart P

Stairways & Ladders, Subpart
