Description:
This two-day course is designed to familiarize attendees with operational considerations for suspect confrontation during an active shooter incident. Class time is kept to a minimum in order to expose students to the dynamic tactics involved with this type of response. Patrol team tactics and application of building entry tactics are discussed before students complete several force-on-force entries utilizing simmunition. Demonstrations, practical scenarios and classroom instruction on the philosophical and practical issues will be the focus of the course.

Response to “Active Shooter” vs. traditional barricade/hostage situation
Overview of Terrorist Tactics/ Techniques & Procedures
Basic Tactical Firearms Procedures
Searching Techniques
Dynamic Movement Techniques designed to isolate and neutralize the suspect(s)
Low-Light tactics
Approach and Breaching into crisis site
Rescue team tactics/casualty collection
Improvised Explosive Devices and the Active Shooter
Stress inoculation through force-on-force scenarios
Video debrief of Scenarios

Requirements:
Full duty belt as carried on duty (no live agents, weapons or Taser)
Note taking material
Body armor
Groin protector or cup for Simunition work, a paintball mask/helmet if you want to use your own (we will also provide a mask)
