Description:
Utilizing the FIST suit (protective DT training suit) officers will receive practical and dynamic training to enhance their proficiency in the areas of policy and legal implications, camera operation, chemical agent application, self defense and tactical approaches necessary in a forced cell move as well as reducing individual and agency liability. This course will also cover critical issues like choosing the best equipment for your intended mission, the physical plant/facility layout, team selection and training, survival mindset and situational awareness as well as the necessary tactics for a successful mission. Officer and inmate safety will be emphasized throughout the course.
Objectives:
Identify what attributes an employee should have to be selected for cell extraction classes.
Explanation of the use of force continuum
Tactical planning for cell extractions
Proper cell extraction techniques
Team member role & responsibilities before, during, and after cell extractions
Team pre-brief and post briefings
Understand the use of the containment shield
Explain the responsibilities of the supervisor on site
What the conditions are before a cell extraction is conducted
Explanation of the purpose for cell extraction training
Explanation of utilization of immobilizing restraints after the cell extraction
Explanation of the use of force continuum

Requirements:
Personal protective equipment: helmet w/ face shield, chest protector, elbow, knee/shin guards, groin protector, gloves
Body armor
Respirator/protective mask if issued
Extraction shield
Chemical Disperser (empty/inert, 1 per 10 students, can be supplied if not available)
Agency approved restraints
