Description:

Evolution of CERT

A Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a team of highly trained corrections officers that are tasked with responding to incidents, riots, cell extractions or disturbances in jails and prisons. CERT is founded upon a team concept and is made up of highly motivated and experienced Corrections Officers. This class is designed to give the student an understanding of basic principals that are applied within CERT teams. Through an extensive look back into correctional history the students will have a better understanding of correctional emergency response and how it is applied to modern corrections.
