Description:
All students will enhance their ability to shoot, perform single hand reloads, clear malfunctions and engage multiple targets, all from unusual positions and while using effective cover. Students will learn reactive and off-hand shooting techniques with both the duty handgun and shotgun to include transition drills. Each student will learn and develop techniques which will enable them to take the knowledge gained during this course and instruct other officers in the above listed techniques, tactics and drills and implement this training into their departmental firearms training program. Students will assume the role of Instructor and develop lesson plans, course content and firing and qualification drills.
Objectives:
Be able to shoot from unusual positions
Be familiar with and be able to demonstrate in practical application various shooting stances
Be able to shoot while on the move to and from positions of cover from the draw
Be able to execute close quarter stances and drills
Be familiar with weapon retention techniques
Be able to fire and retain their weapon from both the weapon and reaction hand.
Be familiar with the operation of a revolver
Be able to effectively teach other officers the above listed techniques
Know the WV rules for in-service training/qualification
Be familiar with and be able to demonstrate in practical application various shooting stances

Minimum 500 rounds of handgun ammunition
Eye & ear protection
Hat with a brim
