Description:
This 8 hour Duty Shotgun course is designed to enhance officer’s proficiency in the use and practical application of their department issued shotgun. Additionally, it will alleviate some of the apprehension and lessen the intimidation felt by many officers when considering the use of their shotgun for duties such as: clearing buildings, approaches, etc. Officers new to the job as well as seasoned veterans will gain an appreciation of the practicality and versatility of the shotgun. Included will be shooting moving targets, proper loading/unloading procedures, stance, clearance and incapacitation drills.
Objectives:
The Student will recognize that every confrontation is an armed confrontation with at least their weapon’s involvement.
The student will demonstrate transition techniques from handgun to shotgun.
The Student will recognize and appreciate the risks involved of missing the Target and the consequences of failing to achieve Immediate Incapacitation.
The Student will identify the requirements to keep moving and continue to be able to engage with precision and accuracy the Hostile Threat.
The Student will practice target acquisition and engagement on the move, towards cover, while limiting their personal Target Profile.
Engage single and multiple targets.
Demonstrate all aspects of Combat and Tactical Reloading techniques from acute body positions and on the move.
The Student will learn techniques that may be deployed if they are physically disadvantaged during any Crisis Situation.
