Description:
This 2 day program looks at combating terrorism and gang activity by Correctional Officers and an in-depth exploration of activity within prison systems leading to organized violence and terrorist activity. Covers means by which sympathizers to terrorist/security threat groups use to recruit and manipulate other inmates. Use of improvised explosives and weapons and detection methods of these are described, with detail given to improvised explosives which can be made from existing materials within the correctional facility. Case studies of improvised explosive devices made inside jails and prisons will be documented, as well as security measures for dealing with terrorist confined in prison. Security measures and response to explosive or fire situations within the correctional facility will be covered.
Objectives:
Be able to better detect and identify improvised explosive devices and weapons
Identify materials that could be used to manufacture I.E.D.
Know the proper procedures for reporting/containing an I.E.D.
Know the history of I.E.D in our correctional system
Know the role I.E.D. plays in riots and disturbances
Know commons means of recruitment
Learn means of communication with sympathizers outside of the institution
Learn the differences as well as similarities of terrorists, security threat groups and gang members in institutions
Learn effective means to control these groups and individuals
