Description:

Equally beneficial to both law enforcement and corrections, this 8 hour class will cover the principles of effectively handling a crisis/hostage situation as a 1st Responder. Concepts and techniques for various methods of communication will be covered as will duties and responsibilities and recommended Do’s and Don’ts.

Objectives:

Understand the need for negotiations

Be able to identify the High Risk Factors

Learn various do’s and don’ts of negotiations

Set up and practical application of the Hostage Phone

Dealing with demands and concessions

Identifying various types of hostage takers

What is a "Hostage Situation" and what is not

Various means of negotiations and techniques for each

Scenario driven exercise
