Description:

Covering critical issues like choosing the best equipment for your intended mission, choosing the right personnel, Tactical Planning, mindset, causes and group dynamics of a civil disturbance and the necessary tactics for a successful mission with a return to normal operations as a paramount goal. Emphasis will be placed on:
    Riot Control Formations
    Dynamic entry techniques
    Tactical Planning
    Shield tactics
    Less lethal applications
    Man down recovery
    Riot control
    Edge weapon defense
    Close quarters encounters
    Riot Baton Tactics

Objectives:

The student will receive specialized training to enhance security and control in the event of a disturbance as well as develop techniques that will allow them to instruct other staff to effectively put to operational use the areas of concern outlined in this course description. At a minimum, such training includes:

The use of the riot baton for self-defense and crowd control

The use of chemical agents, including appropriate concentration levels and decontamination procedures

The use of gas masks and protective head wear & protective vests (body armor) and shields

The use of flex cuffs (disposable) restraint devices, thereby providing the capability to temporarily restrain large numbers of offenders beyond the capacity of the regular stock of restraints available for routine use

The Students will develop significant Body Control, to the maximum effectiveness of their personal physical capabilities

The Student will understand what is required to complete the task, and deploy as a Team accordingly.

Demonstrate use of techniques from within confined spaces, such as: Corridors, Roof Spaces, Tactical cover positions, Stairs, and Stairwells.

Requirements:

Department issued tactical equipment

Department issued riot equipment

Body armor

Elbow and knee pads

Respirator/protective mask if issued

Ballistic/Riot shield

Riot Baton

Inert/Training Riot Control Agent

1-12 gauge Shotgun per 5 students

2-12 gauge less lethal rounds ea.
