Description:
Participants will learn to distinguish between the different types of hostage takers and hostage situations and the difference between a disturbance and a riot. Using a case study, the student will determine what information should be collected by the first person on the scene; determine how the “Code of Conduct” used by hostages can impact a hostage situation; and through the use of role play, analyze a disturbance and develop a report which describes this incident and follow-up security measures, according to the directives in this module.
Objectives:
Determine the accepted methods for prevention of riots and disturbances and why they can be effective
Identify the “warning signs” to look for in a potential riot situation
Determine the correct action to take if taken hostage in a disturbance Distinguish between the different types of hostage takers and hostage situations
Using a case study, determine what information would be collected by the first person on the hostage scene
Determine how the “Hostage Code of Conduct” used by hostages can impact a hostage situation
Through the use of role play, analyze a disturbance and develop a report which describes this incident and follow-up security measures, according to the directives in this module.
